Southmayd Home Remembers When - June 2008

Visitors are welcome to come view our Canvas Quilt art project: “Southmayd Home Remembers When” on display since spring 2008 is.  Using water-color pencils, our residents created individual pictures that depict something reminiscent of their past such as “Ice Skating at Hamilton Park,” “Fishing in South Carolina,” “Ice Cream Sundaes at Father’s Soda Fountain,” “Making Candy at Peter Paul” and many more.

The pictures are attached to each other like a patch-work quilt to form our "Canvas Quilt" of memories from the past.  Each of the residents then told their story which was video-taped and made into a DVD for families to keep. This project allowed our residents to share their stories with both other seniors as well as our younger visitors.
