Front Entrance Improvements

Twenty-five people volunteered their time and worked hard on Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14 to trim and remove the overgrown barberry and yew bushes, weed, edge the beds, dig up roots and pachysandra, plant flowers and lay down mulch (see slide show).

The manpower and efforts of our volunteers was impressive! Our workers were young and old, Overlook neighbors, R.S.V.P and Sr. Companion volunteers, employees, Directors of the Board, husbands, wives and sons, some old friends and many, many newly established friends.

Our volunteers worked hard, however without the assistance of three area businesses, we could not have accomplished as much as we did in one day and we especially thank them from the bottom of our hearts:

David Mascoli, of Davidia Horticultural, LLC, used his expertise and spent considerable time to help plan and organize the work to be done. He donated the use of his truck to deliver mulch and supplies and then to haul away debris. He also donated 12 buckets of his special homemade compost and a few home-grown perennials for our front entrance plantings;

Bernardi brothers Joe, Mike and Brian of Brothers’ Tree Service, LLC donated their time and equipment to efficiently cut down our +30 year overgrown trees, chip up the branches, grind down stumps and haul away the debris;

Freezer Hill Mulch Co., LLC generously donated 12 yards of mulch and allowed us to dump our debris free of charge.

We also appreciated the many Board members, friends and resident families who donated beautiful flowers for the beds.

Our residents love the new look. It’s brighter, cleaner, safer, friendlier and lovely!

THANK YOU!
