Nestled among charming, early-twentieth century, single-family residences in the Overlook Historic District of Waterbury, Connecticut, Southmayd Home's three-story, attractive Tudor-style building occupies more than an acre of land. It is located on a Waterbury bus line and is easily accessible to both I-84 and route 8.

Each resident has her own private room where she can arrange the furniture to her liking and add personal items and furnishings to her taste. She also can have a phone and tv installed. Meals are served daily in our newly refurbished and elegant dining room. Residents enjoy relaxing in the large comfortable and graciously furnished living room, two bright and cozy sun rooms, and on our patio.

The large and brightly lighted arts and crafts room is used for engaging activities that include table top bowling, painting, knitting, making pottery and learning about horticulture. The ladies spend as little or as much time as they choose in their rooms. They are invited and gently encouraged to participate in the many activities that are offered seven days a week. Quite often the ladies visit and enjoy one another's company as friends are apt to do.

There is also a newly updated full service hair salon named Aunt Hilda's Beauty Parlor on our premises. Decorated in a nostalgic theme, the ladies experience a trip down memory lane as they are pampered with new "coiffures".

Southmayd Home is beautifully surrounded by gardens, a wooded park with safe walking paths, a waterfall with pond, and a furnished patio where the ladies can enjoy the fresh air, and listen to the sounds of youthful laughter from the adjacent elementary school yard.
